In 1978-79 Paul Simpson played the organ for The Teardrop Explodes
and recorded with them a single called Sleeping Gas.
Simpson left shortly after and was later replaced by Gerard Quinn
who stayed with Teardrop Explodes for only two weeks.
In 1981 Jeremy Kelly played guitar for Systems and
recorded with them a single called Total Recall.
Later that year Simpson, Quinn and Kelly joined forces
and became The Wild Swans with the help of Alan Wills on drums.
In 1982 they recorded the single Revolutionary Spirit and sessions
for John Peel and David Jensen. Shorly after they split up.
Gerard joined Peter Coyle's band The Jass Babies which soon split up.
So Gerard, Peter and Jeremy formed The Lotus Eaters.
Alan Wills joined The Room and Paul Simpson joined Ian Broudie
of Big In Japan / Original Mirrors to become Care.
The Lotus Eaters were joined by Mike Dempsey
of The Cure / Associates on bass and Stephen Creese on drums.
They recorded several radio sessions in 1982 and were signed by Arista Records,
as were Care on the strenght of a demo they have made for fun!
The Lotus Eaters released The First Picture Of You in June 1983
and Care released My Boyish Days (Drink To Me) both on Arista Records.
The First Picture Of You reached no.15 in the UK charts.
The Lotus Eaters released You Don't Need Someone New in August '83
and Care released Flaming Sword which reached no. 48 in the charts.
Early '84, The Lotus Eaters released Set Me Apart.
Care released Whatever Possessed You and shortly after they split up.
That year The Lotus Eaters released their only lp No Sense Of Sin
and one more single called Out On Your Own.
Early 1985, The Lotus Eaters released It Hurts.
Shortly after Jeremy Kelly left and started working with Paul Simpson.
Peter Coyle carried on as The Lotus Eaters with the help of David Hughes
who had taken Gerard's place at the keyboards in 1986.
The Wild Swans sessions of May '82 for John Peel
was released on Strange Fruit Records.
Shortly after, Paul, Jeremy and Alan reformed The Wild Swans,
recorded a session for Janice Long and played support on a date
on The Mighty Lemondrops tour. They signed to Sire Records.
That year Peter Coyle released his first solo 12" called Selfish
and released his second 12" called Circle Of Lies in late 1987.
In 1988 The Wild Swans played support to The Mighty Lemondrops
and then in March released the single Young Manhood.
Peter Coyle released a double-lp called A Slap In The Face For Public Taste.
The Wild Swans played support to The Church in April for one date in London.
Then they released Bible Dreams and the lp Bringing Home The Ashes.
Then they played a date at Mean Fiddler in London to promote it.
 
Peter Coyle released his second lp called
I'd Sacrifice Eight Orgasms with Shirley McLaine Just To Be There.
 
In 1990 The Wild Swans released their album Space Flower.
 
The Lotus Eaters recorded tracks for an unreleased second album.
 
Jeremy Kelly formed The Lovers and, in 1997, Diamond Sutra.
 
 In 1995 an Italian group called Ti.Pi.Cal released a
discoteque remix of It Hurts who reached no.4 in Italian charts.
The track was included in the album Colourful.
